Those who have grown up with the scout experience know that the best way is to get going.
A physical journey, made of steps, meetings, looks. With old friends you have not seen for a long time, because you finally have more time for yourself and for them. With new places to look, scrutinize, touch for the first time, as happened to me in Scampia a few days ago.
But it is also the virtual and shared journey of a community.
There are millions of Italians who have a clear and beautiful idea of ​​the future of Italy. With all the difficulties that nobody wants to deny. These millions of Italians do not surrender to resignation. I want to walk with them.
There are moments - in the life of a country - in which the future seems to disappear. Everything becomes crushed on the present. Dreaming seems forbidden, planning impossible, having ideas a fault. Only the indefinite present applies, where the only thing that matters is not to disturb the income of those who have always done in a certain way and want to continue doing so.
Mind you. We are ready for any verification of the past. We are the ones who have to offer a thousand days of work to the Government, which have brought many results. With some mistakes, of course, but in the vast majority we have made progress for ourselves and for the country. Today, Italy has some more rights and fewer taxes: from the Social Yard to civil rights up to 80 euros or the abolition of the IMU on the first house. It went through, unscathed by terrorism, events like Expo and Jubilee while in other parts of Europe things were different. In three years it has recovered 600 thousand jobs, of which three quarters have a permanent contract and has gone from minus two percent of GDP in 2013 to one per cent today. He has unblocked public works for decades and started the broadband operation that will change the face of cities. He has invested in the suburbs, in sport, in schools, in businesses, in museums and in theaters because with culture the identity of a people is defined. We are proud of our thousand days. But, guys, that's enough. That is the past, now.
This blog is not meant for veterans. It is a place to walk towards the future. Together, many. The defeat in the referendum hurt us, I would like to see the opposite. With the reforms, we wanted a simpler and stronger country: it went wrong. I wanted to cut hundreds of armchairs and in the end the only one who jumped - as it was right and proper that it was - was mine. But even that defeat belongs to the past. And there are millions of Italians, millions, who voted Yes and who want to see the future come back. This blog is not just mine, it is all of them. And it is also those who voted No but want to make a contribution, to discuss, to compare. Because in the time of the insult and the clash, it is nice to talk. It's nice to be civil, without lootings, polemics, hate ad personam.
We are those who make politics for something, not against someone.
We will discuss everything.
Starting from the role of Europe in this delicate phase. What is the purpose of the European institutions in an era that the commentators imagine dominated by the Trump-Putin report (all to be verified, however)? What is the use of the idea of ​​Europe born in Ventotene?
And again: what space is there for a center that cuts taxes, which finds a form of protection for the new ones excluded from globalization, which fights poverty starting from children and growth, which uses innovation to make it more competitive Italy, which does not follow the daily looting but invests on Casa Italia as designed by Renzo Piano, who knows how to combine the word security in a new way?
